Cheeses in Entertaining – Part 1 (Storage)

The holiday’s will soon be upon us and our meals would not be complete without cheese. There is much to consider when purchasing cheese; the texture, the flavor, how it will be used.

We often do not consider how we plan on storing it while not devouring it’s delicious pate. Most hard, semi hard, and semi soft cheeses can easily be stored in plastic sandwich bags for up to 2 weeks, but soft cheeses including brie, goat cheese and taleggio can have a bloomy rind or living rind that stores best in wax or parchment paper. These cheeses can also have a shorter shelf life of 3 days to a week.
